The Masterson Method® is a form of equine bodywork which involves following the responses of the horse in order to identify and release tension in the whole body. It is a neuromuscular, mixed modality method, during which the practitioner assists the horse in moving key junctions of the body through a range of motions in a relaxed state. Jim Masterson designed the method for performance horses but it is valuable to help any horse release tension and improve range of motion. It is also an excellent form of communication with the horse, useful in evaluating primary discomfort and physical vs. behavioral issues.
